Frequently Asked Questions

St. John Lutheran School - Preschool and Pre-K

Do families need to be Lutheran to attend?

No. Families of all backgrounds are welcome at St. John. Our Lutheran faith is woven throughout the school day to all students of various faith backgrounds.

How is faith incorporated into coursework?

Faith is integrated throughout the school day and focuses on biblical lessons that help students become kind, caring, and responsible members of their communities.

What is the difference between Preschool and Pre-K?

Preschool focuses on social-emotional development, independence, routines, and learning through play. Pre-K builds on that foundation with increased emphasis on letters, numbers, writing, phonics, early math concepts, and kindergarten readiness.

How large are class sizes?

Typically 8-12 students make up each class, allowing teachers to provide individualized attention and support. Current enrollment numbers are available upon request.

Will my child interact with older students?

Yes. Preschool and Pre-K students regularly participate in school-wide activities, helping them feel like a part of the larger school community from day one.

How do you communicate with parents?

We believe strong partnerships with families are essential. Parents receive regular updates about classroom activities, upcoming events, and their child’s experience throughout the year.

Is transportation available?

Unfortunately, transportation assistance in our district is only available starting at the Kindergarten grade level.

Is before and after school care available?

Yes. Students can be dropped off starting at 7:50am for free supervised activities until classes start (at 8:20am). Freedom Flock aftercare is available from 3:00pm until 6:00pm each school day for a small fee for Pre-K students. Afterschool care is not available to preschool students (whose class ends at 11:30am each scheduled day). Contact us for more details about before and aftercare.
